MICHAEL HARVEY has focused on fine furniture for the home, mainly functional pieces but with embellishments such as hand-cut dovetails, carvings and inlays. He uses motifs from nature such as kelp, flowers or sea animals. He makes use of local woods such as arbutus, holly, yellow cedar and Garry oak, as well as better known cabinet woods. He is a member of the Vancouver Island Woodworker’s Guild and has a well equipped shop near Brentwood Bay, Saanich Peninsula, B.C.
